According to foreign media reports,is there life in the universe beyond the earth?Scientists have begun looking for extraterrestrial life's journey, the inner solar system for the existence of the planet can support life,Mars and some satellites, for example, even if not support life now, doesn't mean it doesn't support in the past,it is very suitable for Mars, scientists believe that the ancient Mars a liquid water environment,so the life is also very possible,All we have to do is find these traces of life. But other scientists are looking beyond our solar system, using data from exoplanet probes to find planets beyond our solar system, and using spectroscopic techniques to detect signs of extrasolar life.
If there is liquid water on an exoplanet,it has a different spectrum.Exoplanet surveys, such as the transit method, can help uncover the mystery of the composition of exoplanet atmospheres. But the latest American astronomer at the university of Washington amit mishra and his colleagues published a new investigation method, this technique relies on a material called"dimer, survey technology based on the atmospheric molecular extrasolar planet,in this way, scientists can find whether the material such as oxygen is present in the atmosphere of exoplanets.
Scientists are using spectroscopy to search for extraterrestrial life
Spectroscopy allows us to get the basic parameters of the atmospheres of distant planets, and to find those with oxygen-containing atmospheres
When a planet passes through the disk of its star, the light from the star passes through its atmosphere and travels through the universe until it is picked up by our telescopes.Special devices attached to the filters can be used to investigate a particular dimer signature, which scientists are currently targeting for oxygen. One of Misra's team is an astrobiologist whose mission is to look for oxygen-based extraterrestrial life.If scientists observe a planet with a strong signal of oxygen dimer, then oxygen is present in the planet's atmosphere, and photosynthesizing life is more likely.
But there are limitations to this approach, and new telescope technology is needed.Currently NASA's most advanced telescope is the Hubble Space Telescope, and its successor, the James Webb Space Telescope, will be launched in October 2018 to take over and give us even more observation power.Spectral data can be collected from distant stars and their planetary systems, which has very positive implications for the investigation of extrasolar life.
